Apart from a gradual freshening in the easterly breeze that took the edge of the warmth, today was a more of the same day of unbroken sunshine and few migrants. A Reed Warbler and an overflying Corn Bunting at the Bill and an Avocet at Ferrybridge were all firsts for the year but grounded routine migrants have been getting noticeably fewer by the day and really weren't at all conspicuous today. Visible passage was steady rather than spectacular and included nothing better than an unidentified harrier in off the sea at Chesil during the evening. In promising conditions the sea returned variety rather than numbers, with 102 Common Scoter, 4 Dunlin, 2 Teal and singles of Red-throated Diver, Grey Plover and Bar-tailed Godwit through off Chesil and 60 Common Scoter, 15 commic terns and singles of Red-throated Diver, Brent Goose and Great Skua through off the Bill.
