A truly grim dreary and cold day did at least provide a few morsels of interest, notably a
Siberian Chiffchaff at Blacknor and some very minor signs of a few birds moving in response to the cold: at least 7
Lapwings dropped in at the Bill where the first
Reed Bunting for more than a month also showed up. Routine fare there included 6
Purple Sandpipers, a
Grey Heron and a
Black Redstart, with 18
Common Scoter and 4
Red-throated Divers through on the sea; elsewhere, 2
Eider were still in Portland Harbour.
