3rd December

Despite the brisk and chilly northerly being a nagging feature all day unseasonable migrants continue to appear, with a Hoopoe at the Bill being today's offering: first found near the lighthouse during the morning it continued to roam that area and the hut fields for the rest of the day. Newcomers were otherwise few and far between, with 2 Redwings at the Bill and a Mistle Thrush at Blacknor being about the best on offer; lingerers included 2 Purple Sandpipers and singles of Black Redstart and Blackcap at the Bill, 5 Chiffchaffs, 4 Goldcrests and 2 Firecrests at Pennsylvania Castle and 3 Black Redstarts at Blacknor. Three Brent Geese and a Red-throated Diver through off the Bill were the only reports from the sea.
